“Do away with” Meaning and Examples

“Do up” Meaning and Examples

Meaning 1

To fasten something, to buckle something, normally referring to clothes.

Example

Do up your shoelaces! If not, you could trip and fall.

To repair old cars, buildings, boats, etc.

Example

His hobby is doing up old houses. He is always looking for cottages to repair.

“Do with” Meaning and Examples

To need or want something.

Example

“Do without” Meaning and Examples

To successfully manage a situation without something or someone.

Example

There’s no mayo for the burgers and it’s too late to go get some. I guess we will have to do without it.
